(Jan. 3, 2014) Missing doctor Teleka Patrick had an order of protection against her brought by gospel singer Marvin Sapp. Patrick has been missing since December 6 and was last seen at a hotel, where she failed to get a room and simply walked away. Her family is extremely worried about her as more details unfold.
Sapp explained in the personal protection order that Patrick often referred to him as her husband and had been stalking him for some time.
"She has moved from CA to MI… joined my church, contacts my children and has been to my home," the court documents stated.
Patrick's ex-husband, Ismael Calderon, and Patrick's parents have all expressed concern about her mental health.
"She went to Michigan on purpose and I don't believe it had anything to do with, 'Oh, Michigan has a really great psychiatric residency program,'" Calderon told WOOD TV. "What I heard is that there was somebody that she maybe felt that God wanted her to be with."
"There are so many details that have been revealed during the course of this investigation that confuse and hurt us all the more," Mattahais and Irene Patrick said in a statement to WOOD TV. "We would like to thank Ismael Calderon for coming forward and giving us some insight as to what Teleka may have been thinking/experiencing on the days leading up to her disappearance. We have the utmost respect for him. Regardless of Teleka's emotional state, we believe wholeheartedly that she has encountered some harm or danger," they added.
Teleka was last seen on surveillance footage of the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She tried for 14 minutes to secure a room but was ultimately denied and walked away, never to be seen or heard from again.
Sapp has also issued a statement regarding the situation and the order of protection against Teleka and said he is "deeply concerned" about her well-being.
"Not only am I concerned about my family, I am deeply concerned about the well-being of all families. My prayers of love, safety, reconciliation and support are always and forever with God's children," Sapp said in the statement.
