Atlanta Megachurch pastor, Bishop Eddie Long, has passed. He was 63. According to a statement from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, he died of an "aggressive form of cancer."
Recently, there had been concerns about his health due to dramatic weight loss. Despite that, Long had made appearances at his church and had even preached at New Year's Eve Service, ushering in 2017.
Long was the most well known and at one time was the most popular pastor in Atlanta with his church in 2006 hosting the funeral of Coretta Scott King, the wife of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. Mrs. King's services were attended by four presidents including President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, President George H. Bush and President Jimmy Carter. New Birth was also the funeral site for singer and rapper, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes when she died in 2002.
The funeral service for Bishop Long is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA. Aside from his church family, Long is survived by his wife Vanessa and his four children.
