Gospel legend, Pastor Shirley Caesar, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Gospel stars Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin were on hand for the celebration which took place in front of the The Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard near the stars of gospel singers BeBe and CeCe Winans. During the ceremony, Leon Gubler who is President/CEO of Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declaired it "Shirley Caesar Day" in Hollywood.
Pastor Caesar recently celebrated her 50th anniversary. She has been won 11 Grammy Awards, 7 Dove Awards, 14 Stellar Awards and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Pastor Caesar began her career with Albertina Walker’s Caravans, one of the Top Five gospel acts of the 1950s. She then branched out on her own as a solo artist in 1966 with her own unique style of delivering songs and sermonettes that made her an immediate crowd pleaser and a consistent record seller. Over the years, she has made songs such as “Don’t Drive Your Mama Away”, “No Change”,
“Faded Rose”, “Jesus” and “Hold My Mule” into absolute gospel classics.
