Steve Harvey Surprised At Backlash Following Meeting With Trump

Entertainer Steve Harvey is surprised by all the backlash he has received because of his meeting last week with President-elect Donald Trump. The "Family Feud" host received immediate backlash on social media once he appeared in the lobby at Trump Tower with the president-elect and the meeting was revealed.

“I have an obligation to take a seat at the table when invited,” said Harvey. “Change can only happen when we sit at the table. If we sit at the table, then we can have a say so [as] to what’s to be eaten on the menu. If you’re not at the table, you can’t even refuse the menu or suggest what we should be eating.”
According to Harvey, whose syndicated radio show "The Steve Harvey Morning Show" is marketed to a largely African American audience, his meeting with Trump included a discussion about urban development and how Harvey can be an asset. Harvey said that Dr. Ben Carson, Trump's nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, joined the meeting by phone.

“On a personal note, a lot of ya’ll hurt me. You really did. I didn’t expect the backlash to be so fierce,” said Harvey. "If I’m going to keep getting stabbed at, then at least while you’re stabbing me, you should understand my intent for taking the meeting in the first place.”

Award winning rapper T.I. had harsh words for Harvey as well as Martin Luther King III who also met with Trump. T.I. said, “Steve Harvey you should know better and Rev. King he called you in on your daddy’s birthday, you should know better than that. Willie Lynch, read on it.”
